From the Council of Knights

January 20, 2009

With Barach Obama's inauguration today, everyone hopes for the coming of a New Age. You can see it in people's faces, as they gather in crowds never before seen.
Who knows? Perhaps we are witnessing something new. Perhaps we are in the swell of a Kairos event. We can only hope. No, that's not entirely true. We can do more than hope. We can live our lives as if we are in a Kairos event. Perhaps our involvement will bring that small bit of energy that acts like a catalyst.
As of late, I have been studying Natural Law in order to firm up the philosophical base of Chivalry-Now. I think the trouble has been worth it. Everything is congealing to place the foundation of CN on a concept still respected by today's jurists. The result so far is 3 articles.

Chivalry-Now is truly a quest for me. I find excitement in everything I learn and carefully add. Companion Mike Bark pointed out several British documentaries directed by Adam Curtis, and they opened my eyes to negative social that I always sensed, but never completely understood. I added a couple of artilces on them as well, hoping people will download the documantaries from YouTube and see for themselves. Check out the articles at

The Trap & Century of Self

A couple new visitors, now Companions, have contacted me about starting their own Orders, wanting advice. This was all I needed to resurrect the Constitution I had startted long ago. It is about 8 pages now, and still growing. The following is an intro, showing how important I think Natural Law is:

"That Nature's Law instills in us a sense of obligation, independent of social dictates, comprises the heart of Chivalry-Now philosophy.
When people of good faith respond to this sense of obligation, it produces a desire to partake in something greater than themselves. Responding to this desire results in a more dynamic experience of life — a Quest for meaning, self-development and purposeful living. By encountering life's spontaneity in a Quest-like manner, positive freedom is attained and true nobility acquired. Intuitively, we seek the highest good, and thirst for a better world, a world forged by intellect, justice, and compassion — enjoyed by all, exploited by none."

It will be an Order unlike anything out there, one with very few rules and respecting personal autonomy. I want it to completely express what CN is all about.
Well, I'd better get back to work now. I have lots to study and write.

November 28, 2008

On November 18, I placed a posting on the Open Forum in which I withdrew my own involvement from the online discussion. I was hurt and disappointed, and responded poorly. For that, I apologize. The post I was responding to seemed an affront to everything I have been working for, and I snapped.
Since then, a number of people form the Companionship have stepped up to the plate to carry on, and I am proud of their moral fortitude and spontaneous leadership. Chivalry-Now lives in them. That they have stepped forward like this is the best thing that could have happened. My momentary lapse resulted in something good.
Quite simply, my presence on the forum was holding people back. People were looking to me for guidance and validation, when Chivalry-Now clearly shows us that they can only find these qualities in themselves.
Now is the time for each of you to step forward and show your resolve. While I left the forum for the wrong reasons, the opportunity for you to prove yourselves is real. Take it. The truth is, I needed to share the burden with you all.
The Companionship still exists, and I remain part of it. The Path to Knighthood remains as well. Nothing has changed except my presence on the forum, and even then I still check often, pleased at what I read.
You deserve more of a response than this. I have provided a more in-depth explanation of what upset me on November 18. If you wish to read it, please click here.

Be forewarned, it's a bit long, but it explains my feelings and the reason I reacted so strongly.

Upon this day the Council of Knights, along with its Inner Council, is formally established.
There are two Knights on the Council. Sirs Steven Forgette and Dean Jacques, the founders of this Companionship.

March 12, 2007

Chivalry-Now has made great strides since we first added our hit counter in late August, 2006. What began as a small web site has expanded to over 30 articles and a growing core of secret teachings. The addition of an open forum on January 29 has added a whole new dimension to our cause, allowing members to communicate with one another in a new dynamic way.
A true Companionship is forming as members get to know one another, and appreciate each other's vision. I find it amazing how comfortable communications are, and inspiring as well.
Even now, I stand in awe at the well-stream we are tapping. I truly believe that chivalry in some form is innate in all men, a vital part of who we are that our culture has neglected for too long.
It is our mission to call it back into the forefront of our lives, first by discovering it in deepest recesses of our hearts, and then by bringing it forth in our daily lives.
The world we live in today, a world shaped by consumerism and celebrity-worship, remains a scourge to the principles of chivalry, crushing our principles by declaring profit as our king. The discontent we feel as men is palpable. We feel alienated as the world refuses to recognize what is real and turns instead to the cheap rewards of illusion.
But now we have an oasis to turn to, a place where our inner core is recognized, welcomed and nourished by a brotherhood where the ideals of chivalry can flourish. Distant as we are from one another, this is our home, our family, our connection with what is real.
I want to personally thank you all for contributing to this oasis, and making it real. Where all this will lead is impossible to say. Nevertheless, what we have, the camaraderie we share, is something that was missing before. Now it is real.
